Going to Eastern Europe for the Holidays!

I am going to Eastern Europe for a month this winter (as well as a few days in lovely Amsterdam)- and the Travelling Cambria thread gave me an idea.

Even if I can't host a travelling doll this month, I'd love to bring the frosty Russian magic back here to all of you. I've decided that I will send postcards to any doll who so desires. I love getting international mail- my friend Furby sends great cards from Hong Kong and China and they totally make my day.

Eastern Europe is off the beaten track, so I hope some of you would like to participate. If you would, PM me your doll's name and address (and in whose care to send the card) by December 15. If you are under 18, please ask for permission first. I will send postcards to each doll who requests them. Remember that mail in the former Soviet Republics is very, very slow and it could take up until a month to arrive!

When I lived there in high school, I sent a letter home from Yalta in April (our spring break) and it got to Wisconsin in July! The mail is much better now, of course. I would also send a postcard from Amsterdam if anyone would like one of those in addition. I will be staying in a small village between Amsterdam and Utrecht.

I hope this isn't a stupid idea!

Have a wonderful time on your trip! I am slightly jealous, as Eastern Europe (especially Russia) is the place I'd choose to go to if I could go anywhere in the world right now. I think I remember you mentioning that you are going to the Ukraine? What will you be doing over there? dress warmly [img]wink.gif[/img]

Anyways, my Mireille is a big fan of Ukrainian politics (haha... silly but true... yay for the Orange Revolution!) and it would make her year if she could get a postcard from the Ukraine, or anywhere in Eastern Europe, really. [img]wink.gif[/img] I will PM you her address. Also, Mireille wants to mail her look-alike Isabel a postcard from Montreal, so please PM your address in return!

In fact, if anyone would like to start a postcard trading thing between dolls, Mireille would be happy to send one of your dolls a postcard from Montreal in return for one from their home town! (although I -erm, I mean she- won't be able to do this until January).

That sounds so much fun! You have to take first the dolls who haven't been on a trip..it's only fair. [img]smile.gif[/img] Whay not just ask your dolls who would wnat to go most and rate them that way.
Other people commincate with their dolls...right?
I thoguht about this earlier, if someone was to take a trip toanother ocuntry, and find perfect AG size things, then it would be fun to buy them and bring them back and offer them for sale to memebers of the board. Of course, I was thinking in that in the context of myself traveling looking for doll size souviniers... what does anyone think about that?
I'll ask my dolls who wants the postcard, cause I know that it will definaly be fun for them (and me). I think that wasa very thoughtful, fun idea!

I've PMed you, too! My Maura (AGT 21), like me, loves to receive mail, and she'd be so thrilled to get an internationational postcard. So would I, actually. My friend sent a postcard from Italy, which I LOVED!

Oh, and I'd love to start up a postcard trade between dolls on the board. Not like Richmond, VA, is very interesting, let alone Mechanicsville, but I'd still love to do it. I could also go down and get some postcards from Williamsburg since it's only two or so hours away.

Colette, that sounds like fun! I hope you have good/safe travels. I think you should take at least one of the girls whom you have already given that type of background to their story/personality. And take one of the historicals that has never traveled!
